Last day

The year is almost halfway through, and I have only two terms left at TA intermediate before TA college. Not much time! Speaking of college, we did a performance with them on Tuesday, and played a piece called Winged Victory with them, the Waikato youth band, and the Waikato schools band with guest conductor Mrs Ringle from the USA(daughter of my trombone teacher). It was amazing! We also played Rock to the max Mr sax, Latin fire, and rolling in the deep, which were all very cool. If you want to listen to them, it's easy to find it on YouTube. The performance took one and a half hours. Every moment was worth it. We often have a couple of concerts a term, but this one was exceptionally big.

Have you read the article about the student who did a speech about teachers not working hard enough? If not, read it here.

They Finally Work!!!

We have finally got the rasp pi's working! One person managed to get different mods for rasp pi working, But python still needs some work. We have only got programs we copied to work so far. but it is a lot of progress. We have got multiplayer minecraft working, and one person got a snake game on it. we have only got the "print" command working so far in python. So we do need to learn a bit more, but we are getting there.

We have had our last session in science, but we've got food next (yay!), so I won't mind to much. We do cafe's in year 8 which will be fun. You always get to eat what you cook, and I am a pretty good cook so it is usually  alright. And if it isn't I'll give it to my sisters!

RASPBERRY PI

We finally got raspberry pi's for our school! we have so far got two of the six working, but need more charger cords. The people we showed thought they were pretty cool, but we've only just started. One person even got to play minecraft on it, but beforehand I got to start it up. the raspberry pi's are amazing little things, and I had fun doing what I did, even though I spent quite a bit of time beforehand getting them all out, set up the cases, and labelling them all. It took a quite a lot of work at the end of one school day, and the full lunchtime of another, but it was sooooo worth the wait. I can't wait to do more!

Science

This term we are doing science. we have learned about the periodic table, molecules, atoms, and particles. It is quite interesting, and we have been learning lots.  We also have been doing lots of science experiments, such as making slime. We made it by using a 1:1 ratio of wood glue and water. Then  our science teacher made a mixture of hot water and borax, and we used this to partly solidify our slime. We also used food coloring and scent to make it look nice. We also have made candles for ANZAC day, distilled saltwater to make it drinkable and are in the process of making soap.from soap base, and coloring and scenting it with multiple colors. The thing this has to do with science is they all involve changing states, from solid to liquid and back, or from liquid, to gas and back. Did you know that some  things change from solid to gas? Dry ice, for example, is frozen carbon dioxide, so it changes from a solid to a gas very quickly.
